What Do Women Feel About DIY - Cartoons By Pigtimes

My husband is a DIY fanatic. So far so good except for the times I feel like that woman in the picture when projects take longer than I can bear. Friends whose husbands who are not DIY-orientated think I’m so lucky – because they think if I want a job done around the house all I have to do is snap my fingers. But the funny thing is sometimes with men you have to break a leg to get things moving regardless of how fanatic they are. Some jobs are more desirable than others and for some men DIY is definitely a ‘vacation’ for them. So they tend to concentrate just on the fun things, and that’s when you tell yourself, if he doesn’t get a move on I’m going to do something about it.

Long ago, I had a friend whose husband could not even hang a picture on the wall. She complained that every picture he ever hung fell off and subsequently cost more time and money to fix and so for even the smallest job she would pick up the phone and hire someone else. Hence I let her “borrow” my husband from time to time. Other women have complained that their husbands never finish the jobs they started.

I’ve been through several house extension projects which my husband played a good part in it. The last project took nine months (not all his fault) and I survived without a kitchen for six months and subsequently the microwave also blew up. The conclusion I came to it was house extension projects are a good test of marriage. I used to joke with my friends that if I had to do another house extension, I would knock my husband unconcious first. And hence this gave me the idea behind my DIY cartoon.
